SBCJWD History
How it all began
Background
In 1977, as a result of Nostra Aetate, the 1965 declaration of Vatican II repudiating anti-Semitism, a group of Catholic religious sisters suggested a dialogue exchange between Jewish and Catholic women. The Catholic-Jewish Women's Conference of Los Angeles was then created to provide opportunities for women to build fellowship, celebrate shared biblical roots, and discuss their respective faith traditions. A South Bay group was established in 2017 to serve a wider geographic area.
